Democrats Win Big In General Election!

Throughout Lake County, Democrats were once again very successful having won many key races. Here is a sample…

Barrington
Against a slate of Republicans who were well funded with big outside funding, a group of hard working Democrats won all but one of the seats. The GOP slate endeavored to ban books and interject religion into school curriculae. Those races involved village trustee, school board and library. Brian Prigge, Lindsay Prigge, Jackie McGrath, Barry Altshuler, Leah Collister-Lazzari and Diana Clopton.

Highland Park
In a hard fought battle, Democrat Yumi Ross won her race for Highland Park City Council. She surpassed one of the incumbents and almost overtook the other.

College of Lake County Trustee
Allena Barbato prevailed over a far right wing incumbent who rejected science and advanced the 2020 election lie.

Miscellaneous School Board
Beth Pope was the top vote getter in the race for Warren Township High School District #121. Alicia Timm won for Ela Area Public Library District Trustee and Kelly Pinter won for Lake Zurich Community Unit School District #95.

Waukegan
On the ballot for Waukegan voters, a refernda was rejected that sought to impose a city manager form of government. This would have required also switching to an at-large form of representation on the city council instead of the current ward system. In addition to costing already overburderned tax payers to fund a city manager along with the associated staff, this would have caused a condition which favored wealthier candidates and consolidated power among certain areas of the city. With a coordinated effort, this measure was defeated by the voters.
